If you’ve ever taken a moment to read the ‘About Me’ section of the site you will know that I am the go-to guy for my family and friends on all things relating to technology and computers. Particularly at this time of year when I’m visiting/being visited by more people I get asked a lot of questions, but by far the most common one is something along the lines of “How do I make my computer faster?”. So I thought it would be useful to share my answer with you all as it is possible to give your computer a new lease of life in one fairly simple step!
Having bought an iPhone 4 a couple of months ago I found that the included earphones were constantly dropping out, which made them useless. So I dipped into the market for a replacement, but was a bit apprehensive having bought and discarded several sets in the past which also wouldn’t stay in.
I wanted something relatively inexpensive with inline microphone and remote that were fully compatible with the iPhone 4 and its iPod features. The sound needed to be high quality but not too bass-heavy and the earphones themselves needed to stay in and be comfortable. I also wanted a set with a case to store them in when travelling.
I eventually happened upon the ZAGG smartbuds priced at $49.99 (around £31) which are made by ZAGG, the company behind the popular InvisibleShield screen protectors for electronic devices. I checked the technical specifications on the product page and decided that they met all my criteria, so I ordered them. I was drawn by the fact that the smartbuds are noise cancelling and have a unique “Hangin’ Tight” feature which means the buds just hang around your neck when not in use as seen in the picture above.
